I'm sad for the people in Picher and in Neosho. There is just so much damage and at this point, the entire area has not been checked out yet. The residents at the retirement center where Mom lives (south of Picher) have identified three of the deceased as family or friends. But they identify some of the survivors too... a sister found in a bathtub with her cat, for instance.
The ex in SW Missouri is safe. Once again, he watched the storms from his mountain top, one going just north and one going just south of his location. I recall how amazing that view is, and it happens to pass north or south quite frequently.
The wind took out my electric right after the storm passed by. This one caught me by complete surprise. As in other locations, I didn't pay attention because the sun was shining. In Miami, people saw the sun shining and gathered in glass-filled rooms, gawking and ignoring the warnings. When the sirens went off there, they panicked and needed someone to tell them where to go and what to do. Fortunately, we didn't get the brunt of the storm here in Tulsa... I didn't even see any rain. But the wind took out the transformer somewhere nearby, at approximately 6:00 p.m. and for the next 10 hours.
Happy Mothers Day to all. I'm glad to be back online and thrilled to find my loved ones safe and ...sound.
